Update 2019
“When you decide to learn a new trade or take on a new profession it can seem daunting and learning how to become an Adjuster is no different. Having a Military and Technological background, this was well out of my comfort zone. Thankfully, Veteran Adjusting School was there to help. Without a place like VAS it’s hard for me to say whether or not I’d experience as much success in my new career as I have. Since graduating, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with a variety of VAS partners on both local and CAT deployment levels. I’ve experienced my fair share of bumps along the way, but VAS instructors always picked up the phone when I called. That’s huge for me. I’m now my own boss who’s able to dictate my own success, in a competitive market that’s constantly evolving. The future looks bright!”

VAS is definitely as advertised. In fact, they probably offer more than you’re currently expecting from the training, mentoring, and resources aspect. Before attending the training I wouldn’t have believed I could have accomplished the objectives set out in the training. But through the knowledge of the instructors and the phenomenal way the training is delivered, even the most inexperienced person is provided with the tools needed to succeed. I am so grateful that VAS was available and that I was able to attend. The lessons were spot on and definitely have prepared me to be effective in the field right away.
As a Veteran, I was a bit nervous about my transition out of the military. When I started my research on future employment I had no idea what industry was right for me or the skills that I’d spent 20 years attaining. When I chose insurance adjusting I had no clue what that really meant until I came across the VAS website. From that point on the transition from Active Duty to VAS student to CAT adjuster has been an extremely smooth one.
If you are concerned about opportunities once you graduate from VAS, I’d acknowledge those concerns are warranted. However, trust the Instructors and former students when they say there are plenty of opportunities in this field. Whether you choose to work as an Independent Adjuster or as a Staff Adjuster (as I currently am), you will definitely be more than prepared, have skills above and beyond even some of the most seasoned adjusters, and have the opportunity to make GREAT money.

Concerns are always warranted when taking a leap of faith financially. I’m a recent graduate (June 4th). VAS is definitely as advertised. In fact, they probably offer more than you’re currently expecting from the training, mentoring, and resources aspect.
3 of 5 (myself and 2 others) in my class were deployed immediately following graduation. I believe the other two will be able to pay off the cost of the course with the money they’re making from this deployment alone. One other took a staff job with Nationwide within a few days/weeks of graduation. The final person had a family vacation planned and elected to hold off on deployment.
VAS is not in the job placement business. However, you will definitely be on rosters and receiving good interaction from numerous IA firms, especially if you are in an area conducive to storms. You will also be a better candidate for employment for staff adjusting once you’ve completed the course. It’s up to you what you’re comfortable with. It’s a storm/peril dependent business. So work for an Independent Adjuster can be great….or not so much. Again it’s up to you to decide what you’re comfortable with. VAS definitely provides you with the education and tools to be ready immediately. I can’t speak on the timing of your graduation (Nov.) and the chances of working right away. If you live in an area where there’s a lot of ice and snow it could be good. Or if hurricane season runs long you can catch the back end.
At the end of the day no one or two discussions is going to make the decision for you. From my limited experience, I would recommend VAS every time anyone asked. I thank Guy and Cheryl just about every time I talk to them.
Respectfully,
Preston (Major, US Army Ret.)

It gives me immense pleasure to write a testimonial regarding my experience with VAS. From the first contact I made with VAS to post graduation, my experience has been fantastic.
This was an intense six week program that tested me in every way. The amount of knowledge that is passed on to the student is incredible. VAS sets high standards for their students and then they give them the tools to succeed. Guy and the rest of the staff keep the students motivated and intellectually stimulated throughout this challenging program.
As an insightful educator, Guy recognized early on when I was struggling and he took steps to give me the extra help before and after class. His efforts and teaching techniques are reflected by the confidence I’ve gained in this industry and the immediate deployment I experienced.
A few people have asked me if the cost of the school was worth it. My answer has been simple. The INVESTMENT I made was at an absolute bargain! I’d highly recommend anyone interested in breaking into the tough field of insurance adjusting to invest in VAS first.

My name is Rodney and I am an alumni of the June ’16 class. To be honest, I was “forced” to leave immediately upon graduation. A company showed interest in VAS graduates and within 12 hours I was deployed to Canada to deal with the Ft. McMurray/Northern Alberta fires. I’ll be up here for 2-4 more weeks and I will make double of what I spent to attend VAS. Yes, that’s in two months. So the income potential is there.
Currently, I am on the roster of 4 IA firms. Two of which has asked me to email them as soon as I am ready because they would like to get me on day claims. In addition, the company I am working with has offered me a full-time position in the states as well. I haven’t made any decisions yet because of the work load here in Canada. I’ll save that decision for me and my wife.
The secret ingredient is VAS training and the personal relationships they have with so many IA firms.
I don’t know what this means to you. I definitely can’t promise you anything, but if this business interests you, then GET INTO THE NEXT AVAILABLE CLASS! I don’t want you to make the same mistake I did. I waited nearly a year to sign up. I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Back to work!
Cheers,
Rodney

“Veteran Adjusting School is everything that they say they are, and more! From the hands on training, to the mentoring, and the connections within the industry. I graduated VAS in February 2016 and moved back to Minnesota shortly after in April 2016. I hit the ground running from the moment I applied to IA firms in April, and haven’t had time to even think about looking back, and it’s now 4 months later. These guys are top notch and you definitely get what you pay for; definitely the “Special Forces” in the adjusting industry. Anyone can get licensed as an insurance adjuster, buy the adjusting software, take a few days class on it…and call themselves an independent Adjuster. The difference between them and a VAS graduate? They are sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring….the VAS graduate is getting emails and calls from IA firms from the day they graduate. Keep in mind; this is all based on how much you put into it as well. VAS will give you the tools to succeed, but it’s up to you to execute.”

I was looking for a new career after leaving the military and was told about insurance adjusting by my uncle. I looked up insurance adjusting on google & YouTube and that is when I saw VAS and Guy Grand. Within a day or so I was on the phone with Guy who explained the interesting world of CAT adjusting and that VAS qualified for the GI Bill.
I enrolled for the class in Arizona and obtained my GA adjuster license. When I arrived in the classroom, it was hands-on and to the point and I was actually inspecting homes with real and simulated damages.
After graduating, I was on my first deployment within a month to New Jersey with a buddy from my class. It was a great period of learning because I thought it was going to be my first and last storm. It was a good thing that Guy spent countless hours mentoring me through the storm. The storm was a success as well as the next few storms I deployed to. If there was ever a time that I was unable to reach Guy, there was still someone that is affiliated with VAS that was able to help me when I was in need. There is a lot of knowledge and reliability when it comes to VAS and its team. I was offered a job as a W-2 employee with a VAS Partnering IA Firm and started working with them.
I still call VAS to say hello or to get help when I get in a rough spot. I am now running commercial claims and continuously becoming a better adjuster. I am happy that I chose VAS. It was one of the best moves I made after leaving the US Army!

Attending VAS was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made. Getting educated by some of the best and most respected in the industry has proven to be a value well above the tuition. If you’re interested in becoming a CAT adjuster, there is nothing that compares to VAS!

In the past I had attended the one week courses offered by two different popular organizations. I had been place on the “dream list” as I call it; the list of those who completed their courses and never get work. They just dream of getting it. I was a bit skeptical of VAS in the beginning, but VAS has done for me what no other will. Since I graduated VAS, I have worked multiple daily claims near my home and am currently on my second deployment. I am convinced that without Veteran Adjusting School I would have never made it this far. What’s more is Guy Grand still calls me and mentors me even though I graduated months ago. That says a lot! I am very grateful to VAS for helping me start a great new career.
